Progress Tracking

Keeping track of project progress is the most basic form of project tracking. The following aspects of progress tracking should be considered when setting up a progress tracking system.
• The stage in which the project is running.
• The stage start date.
• The proposed stage completion date.
• Some indication of whether the project is on track, falling behind, or not likely to reach the next milestone – often referred to as a stop light system.

The project team will need significantly more detail for their project tracking. Projects should not be given formal approval until they have assembled a project plan (see Section Detailed Project Planning).
